See Jesus Inside Yourself – Luke 17 Encouragement

Greetings,

     “The apostles said to the Lord, ‘Increase our faith!’ And the Lord said, ‘If you had faith like a mustard seed, you would say to this mulberry tree, Be uprooted and be planted in the sea; and it would obey you.’” (Luke 17:5-6)

     Do you want more faith? Well, you came to the right place because “faith comes from hearing and hearing by the word of Christ.” (Romans 10:17)

     I suspect we have all heard the sermon that “it only takes a little bit of faith — faith the size of a mustard seed…” but, did you notice, that isn’t what Jesus said. He said, “faith like a mustard seed.” What does that even mean? A mustard seed doesn’t have faith – it is a seed.

     But if it did have faith: A mustard seed is the smallest seed, much smaller than a mulberry seed; but when it grows, it is the biggest – in Luke 13:19 we learned that “it grew and became a tree, and the birds of the air nested in its branches.” – way bigger than a mulberry bush. And that whole big tree was already complete inside that little seed.

     Did you catch it? The key to a mustard seed faith would come from it knowing what was inside it. And Jesus was saying, the key to your faith comes from you knowing what God has put inside you as a Christian. The word of Christ says He put Himself and His Kingdom inside you. (2Corinthians 6:16, Galatians 2:20, 1Corinthians 3:16, Luke 17:21)

     So, here’s the Encouragement: See Jesus; see the Lion; and see the Kingdom of God that is inside you. “Greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.” (1John 4:4) Just like the mustard seed. Live with a grasp of that Truth and your Faith will be strong!
