Live with King Jesus and from His Kingdom – Luke 16 Encouragement

Greetings,

“The Law and the Prophets were proclaimed until John; since that time the Gospel of the Kingdom of God has been preached, and everyone is forcing his way into it.” (Luke 16:16) The Kingdom of God! – Jesus said, “Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.” (Matthew 4:17) True Christianity requires a shift from hope in the things of this world to Hope in King Jesus and His Kingdom.

In Luke 16 today we see Jesus tell stories you may find difficult to fully understand. However, there is a consistent theme that is clear. “No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be devoted to one and despise the Other. You can not serve God and wealth.” (Luke 16:13) You have to choose – will you trust the things of the world or the things of God?

And you don’t want to put your hope in the things of the world – “And I say to you, make friends for yourselves by means of the wealth of unrighteousness, so that when it fails, they will receive you into the eternal dwellings.” (Luke 16:9) – because the things of this world will fail you; they are all temporary.

Be careful that you are not one of “those who justify yourselves in the sight of men, but God knows your hearts, for that which is highly esteemed among men is detestable in the sight of God.” (Luke 16:15) Chapter 16 of Luke is all about living from a Kingdom of God perspective.

So, here’s the Encouragement: Even in the temporary world here and now, keep your eyes on the Eternal King Jesus and Live your Life with Him from His Eternal Kingdom. Jesus came and sacrificed so we could have that starting Now – let’s not let the Gospel be watered down for us into anything less than that.

God bless,

Dave
