Be God’s Child – Luke 18 Encouragement
Greetings,
If Cheryl and I ever start a church, we’re going to call it “Children’s Church”.
“And they were bringing even their babies to Him so that He would touch them, but when the disciples saw it, they began rebuking them. But Jesus called for them, saying, ‘Permit the children to come to Me, and do not hinder them, for the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the Kingdom of God like a child will not enter it at all.’” (Luke 18:15-17)
Humble – Dependent – Full of Wonder – Curious – Hungry – Alive – Open – Trusting
Is that how we are toward God? Or: Are we prideful? – Do we judge others? — Do we argue over doctrine? – Do we ‘put on a good show?’ – Are we too busy to play?
“But as many as receive Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God,” (John 1:12) I am concerned that, too often, we miss the point of why Jesus came. He came so we could be born again, this time as God’s children.
Do you want to become more mature as a Christian? Then become more like a child: More humble – More dependent – More full of Wonder… – you get the picture.
So, Here’s the Encouragement: Be childlike; be God’s child – it’s your right as a Christian. Receive Him (if you haven’t already), and let yourself become His child.
Oh, by the way, your kids would be welcome at “Children’s Church” too!
God bless,
Dave
