Rooted in God’s Love – Luke 6 Encouragement

Greetings,

I hope you realized yesterday that I wasn’t saying sin doesn’t matter. I would never say sin doesn’t matter. Sin matters! It matters a lot! Sin hurts people! Stop sinning!!

In fact, it is because I am so passionate about people becoming free from sinful behavior that I am saying two things about sin: 1) Sin doesn’t matter with God the way most religious doctrine says it does (that’s a lot of what I was saying yesterday); and, 2) The answer to sin is not in trying harder not to (that’s the rest of what I was saying yesterday – and today).

“For there is no good tree which produces bad fruit, nor, on the other hand, a bad tree which produces good fruit. For each tree is known by its own fruit. For men do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they pick grapes from a briar bush. The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth what is good, and the evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth what is evil; for his mouth speaks from that which fills his heart.” (Luke 6:43-45)

So, here’s the Encouragement: Let’s look deeper than the behavior in ourselves and in others. If there is a sin issue, the problem is that the tree is not rooted in the Love of God. If they will let God’s Love flow into their heart (and God may even want us to help facilitate that), there will be healing and their behavior will change. (Cheryl has a fabulous testimony that demonstrates this – if you’d like to read it, send an email to Dave@DaveFeather.com. Ask and you shall receive.)

God bless,

Dave
