Look at Jesus – Luke 5 Encouragement

Greetings,

After Jesus taught a group of people while sitting in Peter’s boat, He told Peter to cast off – “let’s go fishing.” Peter said they’d be wasting their time because they fished the whole previous night and didn’t catch a thing. He said, “but I will do as You say and let down the nets.” (Luke 5:5)

Well, the nets became so full of fish they had to get help from another boat and together filled both boats until they began to sink.

Peter was beside himself in amazement; he was thinking, “who is this guy?” Scripture says, “he fell down at Jesus feet saying, ‘Go away from me Lord, for I am a sinful man!’” (Luke 5:8)

(Now, I want you to notice how concerned Jesus was about Peter’s sin.) “And Jesus said to Simon, ‘Do not fear, from now on you will be catching men.’” (Luke 5:9) It’s like Jesus was telling Peter, and us, “Quit focusing on your sin – I’m not! Sin is not a problem when your life is about Kingdom business.”

So, here’s the Encouragement: Take your eyes off yourself. Don’t let any sense of shame or guilt get in your way (that is pride). Instead, put your eyes on the Lord and watch Him ‘fish’ through you and bring His Kingdom to others. That is rich abundant living! You will be blessed!

God bless,

Dave
