Receive the Kingdom – Luke 12 Encouragement

Greetings,

     “I say to you, do not worry about your life, as to what you will eat; not for your body, as to what you will put on. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing.” (Luke 12:22-23)

     What is the “more than food” that your life is? Some would say a bigger house; a spouse; a better job; a newer car, etc. I asked a group, “What would you rather have, a bunch of stuff or peace and joy?” Almost unanimously they picked peace and joy! And you would too, wouldn’t you?

     And what is the “more than clothing” that your body is? Many would say less fat; more muscle; less age, etc. How about excellent health? You’d take that over looks any day, wouldn’t you? Jesus died for our wholeness; body, soul, and spirit. (Isaiah 53:4-6)

     That peace, joy, and wholeness we would rather have are Kingdom things – they are some of what Jesus brought when He came. “But seek His Kingdom, and these things [the natural things we need] will be added to you.” (Luke 12:31) We can trust Him for that because Jesus said we can experience His Kingdom here on earth just like it is in Heaven. (Matthew 6:10)

     So, here’s the Encouragement: “Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the Kingdom.” (Luke 12:32) I’ll take the sure thing of King Jesus’ Kingdom over the world’s worry and broken ‘promises’ every time!
