Listen to Holy Spirit — Weekly Encouragement – May 3, 2020

………………………………………………….“Holy Spirit descended on Him [Jesus] …like a dove”…………………………………………………

Greetings Friend,

       How real is Holy Spirit?

“…Agabus stood up and began to indicate by the Spirit that there would certainly be a great famine all over the world…” (Acts 11:28) Where is this corona-virus thing going to go and what are you to do? I don’t know but Holy Spirit does and He wants to guide you!

“…widows were being overlooked in the daily serving of food…’Therefore, brethren, select from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we may put in charge of this task.’” (Acts 6:1-3) The Apostles thought one must be full of Holy Spirit to even wait tables for the widows.

“Now when the Apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent Peter and John who came down and prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit…they had simply been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.” (Acts 8:14-16) Peter and John thought it important to “receive Holy Spirit.”

Do you remember the story of Phillip preaching to the Ethiopian (Acts 8:25-40)? “…Then the Spirit said to Philip, ‘Go up and join this chariot’…he preached Jesus to him…and he baptized him. When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord snatched Philip away…” Holy Spirit can talk to you, can direct you, and can be powerful in your life – if you’ll let Him.

So, here’s the Encouragement: How real is Holy Spirit to you? In Hebrews we are told that maturity in the Faith comes by practicing to hear and discern Holy Spirit’s voice as opposed to the other voices that bombard us. Stop and listen – practice listening. Holy Spirit is real. Let Him be real to you.

God bless,

Dave
