Peace Encouragement – June 5, 2019

Greetings,

       We have to obey God’s Commandments if we want to please God, right?  Actually, other than His Commandment to “Believe”, the answer is ‘no’.  But we should obey His Commandments anyway, for our own sakes.

       It’s like this, there is a Commandment that says, “to tighten a screw, turn it to the right.”  That’s just how it works. You can turn it to the left, but the screw will not tighten.

       God’s “Commandments” are His instructions for Life.  He will Love and be pleased with you regardless, but He wants you to “obey His Commandments” because He wants you to Live — really Live!

       “Great are Your mercies, O Lord; revive me according to Your ordinances.” (Psalm 119:156)  His “Commandments” are a demonstration of His mercy toward us.

       “Establish my footsteps in Your Word, and do not let any iniquity have dominion over me.” (Psalm 119:133)

       “Sustain me according to Your Word, that I may live;” (Psalm 119:116)

       Psalm 119 is all about delighting in the Rich, Life-giving power of God’s “Commandments”.  Read it slowly, and carefully, and often because; and here’s the Encouragement: “Those who Love Your law have Great Peace, and nothing causes them to stumble.” (Psalm 119:165)
