Freedom Encouragement – May 29, 2019

Greetings,

       “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He anointed Me to preach the Gospel to the poor.  He has sent Me to proclaim release to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free those who are oppressed, to proclaim the favorable year of the Lord.” (Luke 4:18-19)

       Jesus came to bring Freedom to the poor; Freedom to the captives; Freedom to the blind; and Freedom to those who are oppressed.  The favorable year of the Lord is all about being set free. The New Covenant that Jesus ushered in at the Cross is all about us being free — Free to receive God’s overwhelming Love, and Free to become the Magnificent person we were each created to be.

       “ ‘This is the Covenant that I will make with them after those days,’ says the Lord: ‘I will put My laws upon their heart, and on their mind I will write them, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.’ ” (Hebrews 10:16-17)  Completely FREE from anything that would make you a disappointment or displeasing to God.

       So, here’s the Encouragement: When you think of Jesus, think FREEDOM!  “So if the Son makes you Free, you will be FREE INDEED!” (John 8:36)
