Deceitfulness of Riches — Weekly Encouragement – June 7, 2020
………………………………………………………………..“Deceitfulness of Riches” (Mark 4:19)…………………………………………………………
Greetings Friend,
Let’s talk about money. “For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil…” (1Timothy 6:10)
If you’re wanting it: “But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful desires which plunge men into ruin and destruction.” (1Timothy 6:9)
Or if you have it: “Instruct those who are rich in this present world not to be conceited or to fix their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly supplies us with all things to enjoy.” (1Timothy 6:17)
Temptation; a snare; foolish & harmful desires; ruin; destruction; conceit; uncertainty – none of that sounds very good to me. “But flee from these things, you man of God, and pursue Righteousness, Godliness, Faith, Love, Perseverance, and Gentleness.” (1Timothy 6:11) (Sounds like Kingdom of God / Fruit of the Spirit kinds of things, doesn’t it?)
So, here’s the Encouragement: Let’s put our Hope in the faithful and enjoyable things of God and His Kingdom, not in the lies of the world. “Fight the good fight of Faith; take hold of the Eternal Life to which you were called…” (1Timothy 6:11)
God bless,
Dave
