Jesus is Good Treasure — Weekly Encouragement – June 28, 2020

Greetings Friend,

       “…For the mouth speaks out of that which fills the heart. The good man brings out of his Good Treasure what is good; and the evil man brings out of his evil treasure what is evil. But I tell you that every careless word that people speak, they shall give an accounting for it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”(Matthew 12:34-37) So, what’s filling your heart?

       Maybe you’ve heard the sermon that you’ll stand before God and He will ask you to explain every careless word you have ever spoken. I understand the verse above seems to say something like that, but that is a completely wrong focus. This Scripture is all about whether Jesus is the Good Treasure of your heart. You putting Faith in Jesus will take care of every single “day of judgment” issue (John 5:24)!

       In Romans 10:9 we are told “that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord (‘For by your words you will be justified’), and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, YOU WILL BE SAVED;” What’s in your heart regarding Jesus – is He your living Good Treasure? And is Jesus your Lord – are you happy for your words to boldly declare that? Then your Salvation day was your day of judgment, and it is settled.

       So, here’s the Encouragement: Let’s completely fill our hearts with Jesus! Then our words will come from Him, our Good Treasure. Because our words do matter! “Death and Life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” (Proverbs 18:21) Good Treasure Jesus only speaks words of God’s Love; words that give Life to you and even through you to others. That’s abundant Life!
